As I sit here writing this column on March 12, 10 more cases of COVID-19 were just confirmed in my home state of Michigan, bringing the state total to 12. 

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) reported that 5% of all business revenue is lost to fraud, which is a huge number. 

Now that we have a few months of the new decade in the rearview mirror, let’s use this perfect opportunity to reflect upon a few key areas effective leaders must focus on. 

As with everything in life and business, we have a choice to make. Are we going to be impacted by what’s going on around us, or are we going to have an impact on what’s going on around us?
