The shortage of skilled labor in the trades and service industries was already a chronic problem when COVID-19 emerged. The disruptions and economic consequences of the pandemic have exacerbated the issue and made it a national crisis. 

 The COVID-19 pandemic left no industry untouched in terms of challenges, and in the home services space specifically, we all had to adjust to ensure we could keep delivering our essential expertise despite so much uncertainty.

To celebrate 20 years of a robust internship program, TD commemorated this milestone with a special list of interns who were 20 years old or younger.

The service trades shortage is dire.

According to a 2020 report, 71% of contractors say there is a lack of skilled tradespeople.

I am lucky enough to talk to contractors, both large and small, all across the U.S. Inevitably, when I ask them about their greatest challenge or greatest future challenge, the answer is always the same: The skilled trades labor shortage.
