Truck of the Month: My Professional Plumber

The Knoxville, TN based plumbing company is celebrating 16 years in the business with a fresh new look.

My Professional Plumber is entering a new chapter, and its trucks are getting a new look to match.

The Knoxville, Tennessee-based company has been in business for 16 years, and is expanding beyond plumbing to add heating and air services. For owner Jamie Foster, that growth presented an opportunity to rethink the company’s longtime branding.

“We’ve been in business for 16 years now and we are adding heating and air to our business, so as we have committed to growing the business into other industries and markets, we felt it was a good time to rebrand the look of the business away from the bubble design that I developed 16 years ago,” Foster says.

The new design takes a vintage approach, with a butler logo serving as one of its most recognizable elements. Foster says the theme is intended to evoke old-fashioned professional values and service; qualities that have been central to the company since its beginning.

That beginning came in 2010, a time Foster recalls some people telling him was the worst possible moment to launch a business. He chose not to listen.

“I started by depositing $100 into the bank,” he says. “I would find a neighborhood and park my vehicle while I walked the area door to door introducing myself and handing out cards. Yes, many doors were slammed, but when you know you have limited choices, you make yourself uncomfortable and do what must be done to succeed.”

Sixteen years later, My Professional Plumber operates a fleet of 12 service vans and has built a recognizable brand throughout the Knoxville area. As the company prepared for its next stage of growth, Foster says it was important that the redesigned vehicles retain that reputation while communicating what “professional” means to the company.

“We wanted a professional design that represents who we’ve branded our reputation as and that reflects our service to our customers that we serve,” he says.

The company’s tagline, “One of a kind for peace of mind,” reinforces that message. Foster says My Professional Plumber focuses not only on completing repairs, but also on showing homeowners the solutions available to make their homes more comfortable; whether that means reducing the wait for hot water or finding a way to add a bathroom where one did not previously exist.

According to Foster, the redesigned butler logo has already caught customers’ attention.

“We have had several express how the butler logo reflects the epitome of service,” Foster says. “The responses have been positive.”

Foster considered changing the company’s name as it expanded into additional home services but ultimately decided that the reputation My Professional Plumber had spent 16 years building was too valuable to leave behind.

Instead, the company changed the way that brand shows up on the road.

For Foster, the vintage look is much more than a way to make 12 service vans stand out in Knoxville traffic. It represents the kind of service he wants customers to associate with My Professional Plumber: personal, professional and rooted in values that never go out of style.
