Truck of the Month: Skagit Plumbing
This Sedro-Woolley, WA. based company's truck design encompasses all of the things that make their business unique.

In 2014, Mark and Teresa Sommers started Skagit Plumbing with a goal. "Building something strong, and sustainable enough to provide opportunities to our five children and their spouses ... Today, we're starting to see that vision come together."
This month, Skagit Plumbing (based in Sedro-Woolley, WA., celebrated their 12th anniversary. Today, true to their vision, their son-in-law serves as general manager, their daughter works in the office, and their son helps managing support items. I believe what really reflects the Skagit spirit is their tagline: "Staked in Community." Their company is all about giving back to their community, and it's easy to see how much they care.
Their tagline is featured prominently on the company's truck, proudly written in orange against a black backdrop. According to Lemon Seed Marketing's Emily Fleniken, the designer of the company's wrap, she was inspired by the company's office. "It was covered from floor to ceiling in different signs, badges and stickers, each telling a story of its origin. We knew we wanted to incorporate icons and elements that represent them and their beloved home in the brand. We knew this collage of icons would be unique, but so authentic to them"
The truck is predominantly bright orange, with the badges Fleniken mentioned in gray against a black backdrop. From a water droplet to community landmarks, the truck is a love letter to the community that Skagit serves.
According to Fleniken, the bright orange is another way to stand out against the cloudy Skagit County landscape in Washington. Sommers notes that they receive many comments on the van; it's bright orange color and how great they looks. "People often say that they don't look like a typical branded plumbing company van, which is actually our favorite comments. We believe the design gives them a slightly classier look than most other plumbing vans, and customers seem to notice that difference."
"From a professionalism standpoint, the vans are a big part of the customer experience. We emphasize to our team that we're not just focused on fixing plumbing problems; we focus on delivering exceptional customer service and a five-star experience. After the phone experience with our dispatcher, the next impression customers get is when our van pulls up. Because of that, the vans have to look great — and they do.
