The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors — National Association (PHCC) Educational Foundation is proud to announce the winners of 2017 scholarships awarded through the Foundation. Twenty-two students were awarded a total of $40,000 in scholarships funded by the Foundation, the South Jersey Mechanical Contractors Association, Gerry Kennedy, Anne Williams, the McGlame-Wordell Scholarship Committee, the PHCC Auxiliary of Texas, the PHCC Auxiliary of Massachusetts and PHCC’s Past National Officers.

Nineteen additional students have received 2017 scholarships thanks to $47,500 in funding provided by A. O. Smith, Bradford White, Delta Faucet Company, RIDGID and State Water Heaters. The winners of these awards will be announced soon. 

Eric Truelove Jr. of Garner, North Carolina, has been awarded the 2017 Charles F. Hiley Memorial Scholarship, a $5,000 award funded by the PHCC Educational Foundation and South Jersey Mechanical Contractors Association. He is studying mechanical engineering at North Carolina State University.

The following students have been awarded $2,500 scholarships funded by the PHCC Educational Foundation:

Karin Dahlin of Minneapolis is studying HVACR installation, service and repair at Minneapolis Community and Technical College;
Ray Dolen of Yorba Linda, Calif., is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at the PHCC of Orange County/San Bernardino Apprentice School;
Theodore Krumholz of Fairmont, Minn., is studying business management at Bethel University;
Rustam Ragin of Needham, Mass., is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at The Peterson School;
Jason Updike of Beaver Dam, Wisc., is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at Madison Area Technical College; and
Juan Antonio Yanes of Garden Grove, Calif., is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at the PHCC of Orange County/San Bernardino Apprentice School.

The following students have been awarded $1,000 scholarships funded by the PHCC Educational Foundation:

Sergio Arroyo of Santa Ana, Calif., is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at the PHCC of Orange County/San Bernardino Apprentice School;
Luca Borgese of North Tonawanda, N.Y., is studying Mechanical Engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo;
William Donovan of Morton, Penn., is studying Business Management at Widener University.
Jonathan Firkus of Bend, Ore., is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at Area VII Plumbers JATC #7005;
James Kenney of Havertown, Penn., is studying HVACR installation, service and repair at Thaddeus Stevens College of the Trades;
Noah Kienutske of Troy, Mich., is studying engineering and business management at Michigan Technological University;
Joshua Oakley of Dayton, Ind., is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at Mechanical Skills;
John Pinedo of Orange, Calif., is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at Plumbing Heating Cooling Contractors (PHCC);
Michael Ryan of Redlands, Calif., is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at the PHCC of Orange County/San Bernardino Apprentice School; and
Thomas Ryan of Charlton, Mass., is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at Central Massachusetts Tech.

Other scholarships awarded by the Foundation and funded by PHCC members and organizations were:

Jacob Allan Cooke of Baltimore, Md., was awarded a $2,500 funded by Gerry Kennedy; he is studying mechanical engineering at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC);
Bailey Costa of Fall River, Mass., was awarded a $2,500 Fran Williams Memorial Scholarship funded Anne Williams and the McGlame-Wordell Scholarship Committee; she is studying business management at Johnson and Wales University in Providence, R.I.;
Sean Freitas of Natick, Mass., was awarded a $2,500 scholarship funded by the PHCC of Massachusetts Auxiliary and PHCC Educational Foundation; he is studying managing for sustainability at Bucknell University;
Amanda Collins of Pearland, Texas, was awarded a $2,500 scholarship funded by the PHCC of Texas Auxiliary and PHCC Educational Foundation; she is studying mechanical engineering at Clarkson University; and
Nicole Gorrell of Cockeysville, Md., was awarded a $2,500 need-based scholarship sponsored by the PHCC Past National Officers; she is studying industrial engineering at North Carolina State University.
