The Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors—National Association (PHCC) Educational Foundation announced the winners of 2019 scholarships awarded through the Foundation.

Twenty-eight students were awarded a total of $58,000 in scholarships funded by the Foundation, Laurie and Daniel Crigler, Gerry KennedySteve and Isabella SchaefferAnne Williams, the McGlame-Wordell Scholarship Committee, the PHCC Auxiliary of Texas, the PHCC Auxiliary of Massachusetts and PHCC’s Past National Officers. The students, their schools and studies are listed below.

An additional 22 students have received 2019 scholarships thanks to $55,000 in funding provided by A.O. Smith, Bradford White Corp., Delta Faucet Company, RIDGID, State Water Heaters and Viega.

The top Foundation scholarship winners for 2019 are:

  • Ilai Eteaki from Tustin, California was awarded the 2019 Charles F. Hiley Memorial Scholarship, a $5,000 award funded by the PHCC Educational Foundation. He is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at the PHCC of Orange County/San Bernardino apprenticeship program.
  • Jack Lugge from Freeburg, Illinois was awarded a $5,000 scholarship funded by the PHCC Educational Foundation. He is studying mechanical engineering at Southern Illinois University.
  • Michael Whelan from Costa Mesa, California was awarded a $5,000 scholarship funded by the PHCC Educational Foundation. He is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at the PHCC of Orange County/San Bernardino apprenticeship program.

The following students have been awarded $2,500 scholarships funded by the PHCC Educational Foundation:

  • Brandon Betancourt from Diamond Bar, California, is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at the PHCC of Orange County/San Bernardino apprenticeship program.
  • Brett Forguson from Huntington Beach, California, is studying Plumbing installation, service and repair at the PHCC of Orange County/San Bernardino apprenticeship program.
  • Taylor Noelle Gilbert from Zeeland, Michigan. is studying mechanical engineering at the University of Michigan – Ann Arbor.
  • Roberto Sandoval Jr. from Anaheim, California is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at the PHCC of Orange County/San Bernardino apprenticeship program.

The following students have been awarded $1,000 scholarships funded by the PHCC Educational Foundation:

  • George Berry from Southold, New York, is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at SUNY Delhi.
  • Rebecca Besel from Seminole, Florida, is studying mechanical engineering at the University of Central Florida.
  • Dylan Burch from West Linn, Oregon, is studying business management at Sierra Nevada College.
  • Mackenzie Davis from Calgary, British Columbia, is studying mechanical engineering at the University of British Columbia.
  • Jimmy Guerra from Glendora, California, is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at the PHCC of Orange County/San Bernardino apprenticeship program.
  • Jacob Keil from Bellevue, Iowa, is studying HVACR installation, service and repair at Northeast Iowa Community College.
  • Jacob W. Heath from Essex, Massachusetts, is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at North Shore Community College and Essex Technical.
  • Cameron Howard from South Haven, Minnesota, is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at St. Cloud Technical College.
  • Chase Hunter Jacobson from Casselton, North Dakota, is studying HVACR installation, service and repair at Northland Community and Technical College.
  • Nathan Nickles from Sandusky, Ohio, is studying construction management at Bowling Green State University.
  • Riley Ristich from Buena Park, California, is studying plumbing installation, service nad repair at the PHCC of Orange County/San Bernardino apprenticeship program.
  • Ben Thomson from Riverview, Maine, is studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick.
  • Jeremy Worland from Cicero, Indiana, is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at Mechanical Skills in Indianapolis.

Other scholarships awarded by the Foundation and funded by PHCC members and organizations were:

  • William Sexton from San Antonio, Texas was awarded a $2,500 Jim Finley Memorial Scholarship Award funded by Laurie and Daniel Crigler and Steve and Isabella Schaeffer. He is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at the PHCC of San Antonio apprentice program.
  • Ryan Swindell from Virginia Beach, Virginia, was awarded a $2,500 scholarship funded by Gerry Kennedy. He is studying plumbing installation, service and repair at Norfolk Technical Vocational School.
  • Jacob Matson from Merced, California, was awarded a $2,500 Fran Williams Memorial Scholarship funded Anne Williams and the McGlame-Wordell Scholarship Committee. He is enrolled in the PHCC of Sacramento plumbing apprentice program.
  • Kiley Foley from Pembroke, Massachusetts, was awarded a $2,500 scholarship funded by the PHCC of Massachusetts Auxiliary and PHCC Educational Foundation. She is studying studying biomedical science at the University of New Hampshire.
  • Katelyn Bartley from San Antonio, Texas, was awarded a $2,500 scholarship funded by the PHCC of Texas Auxiliary and PHCC Educational Foundation. She is studying mechanical engineering at Colorado State University.
  • Colby Buntin from Fridley, Minnesota, was awarded a $2,500 need-based scholarship sponsored by the PHCC Past National Officers. He is enrolled in the HVAC program at Minneapolis Community and Technical College.
  • Nicole Gorrell from Cockeysville, Maryland, was awarded a $2,500 need-based scholarship sponsored by the PHCC Past National Officers. She is studying industrial and systems engineering at North Carolina State.
  • Ethan Lefler from Rapid City, South Dakota, was awarded a $2,500 need-based scholarship sponsored by the PHCC Past National Officers. He is an apprentice working for PHCC member Midwestern Mechanical, and is enrolled in their in-house Trades Academy.
