Trade Academy has opened applications for its expanded Scholarship program, aiming to break down financial barriers and equip the next generation of plumbers, electricians and HVAC technicians with the tools, training and tuition support they need.

A new $150,000 scholarship investment will support 22 electrical and plumbing apprenticeship students through RWU’s Extension School as the region confronts a growing labor shortage.

This year's winners include 43 apprentices and trade school students, as well as 23 college students.

I recently visited PPATEC, where passionate instructors prepare HVAC/R technicians through hands-on training. Their immersive courses often lead to job offers before graduation. Military veteran Ben Farber is a standout example of the program's impact, showcasing the bright future of skilled trades.

Applicants must be plumbing or HVAC apprentices or trade school students, or college students pursuing studies directly related to the plumbing-heating-cooling industry.

The donation, presented at WHVACR's 21st Annual Conference in Dallas, Texas, includes $50,000 to be awarded in 2024 and an additional $50,000 in 2025.
