The hydronics contractor-teacher-writer was just named the latest winner of the Carlson-Holohan Award of Excellence.

Hydronics contractor-teacher-writer Mark Eatherton was named the latest winner of the Carlson-Holohan Award of Excellence. Awarded every other year and co-sponsored by PM, this “traveling” award recognizes an outstanding industry volunteer who contributes to the education of others, raises funds for industry events, and provides mentorship to youth who have made career choices to be in the hydronics and steam business. These characteristics are a reflection of the values and legacy established by the late Gil Carlson and carried forward by PM columnist Dan Holohan.

The recipient becomes the custodian of Carlson’s original Bell & Gossett System Syzer for a two-year period. While in his or her possession, the winner - through industry activities - is obliged to share the story of Carlson’s invention. Each new holder also must make some investment to protect the originality and physical condition of the tool so that its life journey and message is preserved for all generations to see.

This year’s award was presented at “Wetstock 08,” Holohan’s networking event held in Denver on April 12.
