Watts Acquires Ames
Watts Industries has purchased backflow prevention valve manufacturer Ames.
Watts Industries Inc., North Andover, MA, has purchased backflow prevention valve manufacturer Ames Co., Inc., Woodland, CA. “This is a very strategic acquisition in that it combines the technology of Ames for backflow preventers with the expertise of Watts Regulator, which is the major manufacturer of backflow prevention devices in most residential and commercial applications sold through plumbing and heating wholesalers,” said Timothy P. Horne, Watts chairman and CEO. “Ames gives us product and technology in the fire protection field and also in irrigation.”

Ames’ sales of backflow prevention valves for use in the fire protection market for 1996 totaled approximately $27 million. They also manufacture automatic control valves to control the pressure and flow of water and other fluids.
