In honor of World Toilet Day on November 19, established by the UN to promote global public health and safe sanitation access, Duravit is aiming to pave a path forward for sustainable ceramic production and responsible water use.

Duravit’s 35,000-square-meter Matane, Canada facility, the company’s first North American production site, will produce up to 450,000 ceramic pieces annually using local hydropower. Advanced automation, including driverless transport systems, robotic glazing and automated chamber drying, ensures maximum efficiency and quality. Operating on 99.6% renewable electricity and incorporating the world’s first electric roller kiln, the plant is designed to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, cutting approximately 10,500 tons of CO₂ annually.
