How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?
I started in 2020 as a CSR in our office part time while also attending college. In 2022, I transitioned into the field as an apprentice on my school breaks and began working full time as an apprentice in 2024 after graduating.
What drew you into the industry?
My family has been in the industry for two generations. Growing up, I would help my dad with plumbing projects around the house, do office work with my mom and little tasks around our office. My parents always took me with them whatever they were doing, which included work. While I always had an appreciation for working with my hands and utilizing technical skills, it wasn’t until my second year of college that I wanted to join the family business. After a friend called me with a plumbing emergency looking for solutions, I wanted to give being an apprentice a try. After a summer apprenticing, I haven’t looked back.
What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?
The most rewarding aspect of working in the industry is having a tangible impact on others. The work we do every day improves lives, ensures health and safety in homes and workplaces and supports others in their own endeavors. I like that I can go into a situation, solve the problem, and give someone peace of mind that everything is going to be okay.
What motivates you every day?
I am motivated by learning, bettering myself, and helping my community. I want to be the best at what I do so that I can help the most people.
What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?
I wish more people understood how important plumbing is to health and safety, and that someone actually has to build, design and maintain these systems.
What has been your proudest moment in your career so far?
My proudest moment in my career so far was the first time I was able to diagnose and solve an issue for a customer by myself. I am also incredibly proud to be a third-generation plumber.
