In an effort to help the next generation of technicians launch and advance their careers, hilmor is pleased to again sponsor the Retool Your Future Essay Contest.

Now in its fifth consecutive year, hilmor created this scholarship contest to address the high cost of a solid trade education and the need for skilled technicians in the field in hopes of encouraging people to pursue a career in the industry.

As a manufacturer of industry tools designed to deliver smart, innovative solutions to conquer challenges, hilmor is committed to supporting the next generation of technicians.

“HVACR is a skilled trade that requires extensive training and a commitment of time as well as money. For these reasons and more, attracting technicians into this field remains a challenge for the entire industry,” hilmor Senior Marketing Manager Andrea Halpin said. “We created and continue to support the Retool Your Future Essay Contest to encourage the next generation of technicians to pursue their goals and give them a head start in the field.”

Winners of the contest will receive:

• A $5,000 scholarship awarded to the HVACR school directly on the winner’s behalf;
• An HVACR starter kit, which includes innovative new hilmor tools to get started in the industry;
• An AHR Expo 2018 Prize Package that includes travel to the world’s largest PHC and electrical show in Chicago and participation in show activities, including a roundtable conversation in the hilmor booth on Jan. 22, 2018; and
• The hilmor Green Wall — a merchandising wall featuring exclusive new hilmor tools donated directly to Winner’s school.

To enter the contest, you must be currently enrolled in or have been accepted for admission at an established, recognized HVACR program and meet other eligibility requirements. Contest entrants must submit a personally written 250-word essay including how the industry is “retooling their life.” Representatives from hilmor and its affiliated contest partners will judge the essays and select the six winners.

To date, the Retool Your Future scholarship contests have generated interest from more than 850 trade schools, selected 21 winners from more than 2,000 essay submissions and awarded $120,000 in scholarship money.
