Adapted from PHCC Academy’s online curriculum, the HVAC and plumbing pre-apprenticeship courses could help address the state’s technician shortage where possible by equipping inmates with the necessary skills before they return to the community.

During the four-day course, held March 4–7 at Milwaukee Tool’s headquarters in Brookfield, Wisconsin, participants explored how careful analysis, problem-solving, and attention to detail can help project managers identify issues early, make better decisions, and keep projects on track.

ACCA and PHCC have collaborated for years to help advance the interests of businesses and professionals in their industry. This new strategic relationship will allow ACCA and PHCC to deliver enhanced value propositions for their respective memberships and identify new opportunities to position the plumbing and heating/cooling contractor sectors for long-term growth and success.

PHCC Educational Association licensed ServiceSkills courses – short, focused lessons with interactive video training with real-world applications. Promoting self-paced learning, the courses can be viewed at the participant’s convenience and even accessed on-the-go, on smartphones and tablets. 

Participants will also have the opportunity to educate policymakers on protecting America’s energy future, reforming energy policy, and supporting workforce programs and registered apprenticeships.

The report identifies ongoing labor challenges, projecting slower employment growth in 2026 even as skilled talent remains in high demand due to retirements and a tight worker pipeline.

The platform currently supports plumbing contractors, with additional features and expanded trade coverage planned as part of a long-term development roadmap. 

Launching in January, the small-group program will bring together up to fifteen PHCC members each month for guided discussions, shared problem-solving, and accountability.

While Shapiro passed away in 2019 at just 53 years old, his impact due to his sponsorships and support of education are still felt today.
