Application deadline for 2015 scholarships us May 1^st.

The Boy Scouts of America Chicago Council is partnering with the Plumbing Council of Chicagoland to honor United Association of Plumbers & Pipefitters General President William P. Hite as the recipient of the AFL-CIO George Meany Award during the inaugural “Celebration of Labor and Scouting Unity” dinner Jan. 20, 2015, at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers in Chicago.

The 2014 United Association International Apprenticeship Competition was held in late August.

Scholarship recipients will receive up to $1,000 in tuition assistance and $1,500 in RIDGID tools.

The U.S. Department of Labor has about $1.8 million in grants available through the Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations program, an initiative designed to recruit, train and retain women in high-skill occupations, such as advanced manufacturing, transportation, energy, construction and information technology
