ISH North America Announces Renewable Energy, Business Seminars

July 1, 2008

ISH North America recently announced seminar tracks on efficient technologies/renewable energy and business strategies for its trade show at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Oct. 1-3.

Renewable Energy Track

To educate professionals on the growing use of green applications, highlighted green-focused sessions include:

  • PM columnist Julius Ballanco will describe attempts to move toward a “greener” plumbing design and review how to comply with codes and protect public health with these new systems.

  • Steve Lehtonen, managing director of GreenPlumbers USA, will explain how businesses can benefit from GreenPlumbers’ understanding of the availability and cost of water and energy.

  • PM columnist John Siegenthaler will present two “green” seminars: one on why hydronic distribution systems are eco-friendly, and the other giving 10 trends for the future of hydronic heating.

  • A discussion by Peter Demarco, director of special programs for IAPMO, will focus on how plumbing systems can continue to run as required during the course of upgrades.

Participants will also have a special opportunity on the last morning of ISH NA to discuss a wide assortment of topics with Dave Yates and Mark Eatherton, two recent recipients of the Carlson-Holohan Industry Award of Excellence, which is presented every other year to an exemplary professional in the steam and hydronics industry.

This free seminar will cover state-of-the-art green technologies from solar thermal, ground source heat pump, solar photovoltaic and hydrogen fuel cell technology, to high-efficiency space and water heating, waste heat recovery and mini-split inverter systems that have very high SEER and HSPF ratings.

    Business Strategy Track

These sessions feature marketing, operations, product and strategy instruction by some of the top names in the industry:

  • PM columnist Ellen Rohr will describe how to value companies in order to make advantageous purchases. And her second session will focus on industry opportunities, how to accumulate wealth and how to create wealth-building opportunities for employees.

  • Adams Hudson, owner and president of contractor marketing firm Hudson Inc., will demonstrate in two seminars how contractors should be using marketing.

  • Dr. Ron Collier, president of Collier Consulting Group, will talk about the types of performance-based pay systems, which reward productive workers, and how businesses can implement them. He will also discuss how to organize cash flows to project for success in a separate session

  • Kirk Alter, Purdue University’s associate professor of Building Construction Management and the president of Fast Management, will address how businesses can analyze their place within the market to plan for long-term success and create a preconstruction services component, which will improve a business’s marketability.
