A new International Code Council publication provides an opportunity for safe harbor in compliance with accessibility requirements.

A new International Code Council publication available from BOCA,Code Requirements for Housing Accessibility, provides an opportunity for safe harbor in compliance with accessibility requirements in the federal Fair Housing Act.

The publication can be used by states, jurisdictions, builders and architects to design and construct new, multi-family housing that meets accessible facilities as covered under the Fair Housing Act.

The publication brings together up-to-date provisions from model codes and consensus national standards that meet or exceed the minimum requirements of the Fair Housing Act. It is particularly useful for jurisdiction that have not adopted accessibility-related codes or regulations, and for states and jurisdictions seeking to replace current provisions.
