The American Hardware Manufacturers Association canceled its annual trade show, thereby losing the battle with Reed Exhibitions, owner of the National Hardware Show, to stage a single national show for that industry sector. The two groups split last year when Reed moved its show to Las Vegas from its traditional home in Chicago. AHMA, which had been the show's sole sponsor for 25 years, tried putting on its own trade show in Chicago, but drew far fewer exhibitors and attendees than the Reed event.
