With origins dating back 20 years, the Hydronics Design Studio is a tool to assist those who design hydronic heating and cooling systems. This windows-based software performs calculations that would require hours if done manually. Using simulations, this tool allows designers to answer “what if” questions dealing with the thermal and hydraulic performance of hydronic systems. Hydronic professionals need analytical tools to verify the effect of various design options. That verification often requires complex calculations that are impractical without a high-speed computation tool. Hydronics Design Studio allows design refinement through repeated analysis and simulation.

Version 3.0 of the Hydronics Design Studio has been several years in development, and now provides expanded capabilities including a new high resolution user interface and improved graphics; a new module that calculates pressure drop, head loss, volume, and Reynolds number for user-specified piping strings; a circulator database that contains over 400 fixed speed circulators, and many new multi-mode variable speed circulators; an expanded piping database that now includes HDPE pipe in sizes up to 12 inches; an expanded database of antifreeze solutions including low viscosity propylene glycol; error and range checking routines with associated warnings; updated printing capabilities.; updated file handling and inter-module navigating features; a help system within each module an inks to YouTube tutorial videos for each module.
