Like most elementary schools across the nation, Valley View Elementary in Green Bay, Wisconsin relies on its water heater for reliable hot water in the bathrooms and kitchen. The school was using an 80% efficiency gas water heater that had been installed more than 15 years ago. When selecting a water heater, they knew that the Cyclone FLEX water heater from A. O. Smith would fit their needs.

“We were looking for greater efficiency. It’s very important to us to have a reliable supply of hot water for our kitchen – and to make sure that students have hot water to wash their hands throughout the school year,” says School Superintendent Thomas Schmitt. “We needed a water heater that would deliver higher efficiency and lower our carbon footprint. So we chose the A. O. Smith Cyclone Flex unit, which delivers up to 98% efficiency.”

The Cyclone FLEX water heater recently joined the plumbing industry’s specified high efficiency commercial water heater family, which holds a proven track record of optimal performance. Cyclone FLEX is the latest addition to A. O. Smith’s line of high-efficiency gas water heaters.

“Schools have absolutely no reason to wait to upgrade to a high-efficiency water heater like the Cyclone Flex,” says manufacturer representative Peter Bibby from Soderholm & Associates. “The Cyclone Flex’s flexible venting from two to six inches eliminates any venting hassles the installer might have. And the Cyclone Flex’s AiQ Adaptive Gas Control System makes it easy to adjust to both fuel qualities and fuel type.”

The Cyclone Flex is available in three input sizes within the 60-, 100- and 119-gallon models. The water heater features a streamlined design with a 7-inch color touch display to make it easier to operate and maintain. The Cyclone Flex water heater also includes integrated leak detection that alerts users with audible alarms and notifications via iCOMM connectivity.
