KAI announced the promotion of Senior Mechanical Engineer Mike Tamagni, PE to the expanded role of national director of mechanical engineering.

As Director, Tamagni is responsible for the overall success of KAI’s nationwide mechanical and plumbing engineering practice. In his new role, he will focus on technical excellence, staff capability, talent management, scope and fee development, resource alignment, marketing and sales support.

Over the past three years, Tamagni has led KAI’s technical Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection engineering design team at Indiana University Health’s (IU Health) new multi-billion investment in the Downtown Indianapolis Hospital, one of the largest healthcare campuses in the U.S. As KAI’s lead technical voice on a world-class collaborative A/E/C team, he led the design delivery for KAI’s components on the 864-bed, 16-story hospital set to open in 2027.

Tamagni, who has been with KAI since 2020, has 24 years of experience over a wide range of project and client types. He recently transitioned his home base to KAI’s Atlanta office as part of his new expanded role to lead KAI’s mechanical team and support the rapid growth of the Atlanta operation.

“Having Mike step into the role completes our KAI core engineering leadership team of Aleksandar Milenkov, PE, LEED AP as principal of engineering and Tobin Ezekwesili, PE as director of electrical engineering based in our Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas office and Mike as director of mechanical engineering based in our Atlanta office. These leadership and growth roles are critical to maintaining our level of success transforming communities and driving further engineering project growth across the country,” said KAI Managing Partner Brad Simmons, FAIA. “I want to thank Mike for his exceptional efforts at IU Health, and I appreciate his personal commitment. We wish him the best in his expanded, new role.”

Tamagni has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Idaho and is a licensed Professional Engineer in multiple states.
