Justin Dunn

AGE: 38

COMPANY: HAWS

TITLE: SENIOR FIELD MARKETING SPECIALIST

How long have you been in the PHCP-PVF industry?

JD: I have been working and educating in this space for nine years now.

What drew you into the industry?

JD: The industry drew me in and has kept me in by giving me the opportunity to help in improving the health and safety of people everywhere that are affected by my work and the hard work of those who seek to educate themselves further.

What is the most rewarding aspect of working in the industry?

JD: Working with the enormous community of professionals in this industry and helping to improve their understanding and awareness of safety standards, accessible design, and intelligently engineered products.

What motivates you every day?

JD: Knowing that the work I do helps to make an impactful and meaningful difference in people’s lives.

What is one thing you wish more people knew/understood about the PHCP-PVF industry?

JD: I wish people understood just how many moving parts, considerations and industry professionals it takes to bring them good clean drinking water, accessibly designed products, effective life-saving emergency first aid equipment and other PHCP-PVF services and commodities.

What has been your proudest moment in your career so far?

JD: I think I’m most proud of the work I’ve done building and educating a nationwide team that works to survey and correct first aid emergency eyewash and safety shower compliance issues — I think this is some of the most impactful work I do in helping to actively change the landscape of plumbed first aid emergency response for the better. Ensuring folks have fully compliant and functioning equipment in the event of an emergency and they can get home safely. Currently, you have about a 1 in 5 chance in finding and accessing properly functioning emergency first equipment, but we are working hard to change that and to raise awareness.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

JD: I am an Advanced AYSO certified soccer coach, I’ve played soccer (mostly as a goalkeeper) my whole life and I coach an amazing group of kids in the Sparks, Nevada area ranging from 8 years old up to 18 years.

Why he was chosen as a Next Gen All Star Top 20 Under 40 winner:

“Justin is a subject matter expert in all things related to drinking fountain and bottle filler ADA requirements and ANSI Z358.1 compliance for safety equipment. He is a proactive thought leader in those subjects, training and educating plumbers, engineers, facility staff, architects, safety and maintenance staff, as well as the sales and distribution partners that provide equipment to the industry. Justin is not only extremely knowledgeable on two very specific and detailed topics, but he makes the learning and application of these very important code requirements engaging and fun.

“ADA and ANSI can be complex, confusing and overwhelming. Justin has built a reputation for simplifying the information into relevant and applicable bits of information so that industry professionals that make decisions on product selection, install and maintain plumbing equipment, and/or test the equipment for compliance very informed and confident in their role. On behalf of Haws, Justin hosts monthly 1-hour free CEU accredited ANSI and ADA compliance webinars. In addition, he hosts several CEU accredited Lunch & Learn sessions throughout the year serving US and Canadian territories.” – Kathryn Loos, vice president of marketing and new product development, Haws Co.
