Rheem, the Atlanta-based manufacturer of water heating and HVAC products, donated $10,000 to Atlanta-headquartered, Habitat for Humanity International, on July 2, following a successful six-week Charity Miles challenge.

Rheem employees embarked on a wellness journey that allowed them to earn miles for Habitat. Between May 6 and June 14, more than 130 employees volunteered to log their biking, walking, or running on the Charity Miles app, which turns miles logged into money for charity. Collectively, the Rheem volunteers completed 14,512 miles of exercise to reach the company’s goal. That’s more than three round trips between Atlanta and Los Angeles, a testament to the power of collective action!

"We are proud to support Habitat for Humanity International’s mission to help communities worldwide. We are also proud to support and encourage our employees wherever they are on their health and wellness journeys,” said Dipa Homer, executive vice president, global human resources and communications, Rheem. “A stable home is key to building careers and brighter futures. This donation represents another step in Rheem’s commitment to Atlanta and serving those striving to provide reliable and safe homes for their families.”

Habitat for Humanity’s mission to help millions achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance through affordable housing represents a seamless partnership for Rheem, which is in the business of bringing heating and cooling comfort into people’s homes.

“Every day, the people at Rheem work hard to design, build and produce the best whole-home solutions for hot water, heating and cooling for homes worldwide. As we do that, we are mindful that for far too many people, a home is out of reach,” said Greg Miller, senior vice president and general manager, US water heating division, Rheem. “That’s why this partnership between Rheem and Habitat for Humanity is so meaningful and necessary.”

Throughout its nearly 100 years in business, Rheem has remained committed to doing good for its customers, partners, employees, communities — and the planet. Rheem is focused on creating a social impact by involving and encouraging employees to take part in ongoing outreach initiatives.
