The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Rinnai America Corp. have announced a voluntary recall of Rinnai’s direct-vent wall furnaces, models RHFE 431 and RHFE 556, sold through wholesale distributors nationwide to contractors and dealers from February 2000 through December 2007 for between $1,600 and $1,900.
America Standard America (AS America Inc.), Crane Plumbing LLC and Eljer Inc. recently announced their intent to merge, which is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2008.

Combined U.S. factory shipments of central air conditioners and air-source heat pumps for December totaled 330,698, a 16 percent drop compared with December 2006 totals, according to the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI).
