June 8, 2016

The American Supply Association recently announced the hiring of Hugo Aguilar to the role of director of codes and standards.

The new position will provide advocacy for the association in the code arena as well as educate members of the association and their employees on the codes process and changes that will impact the PHCP and PVF industry.

Aguilar comes to this position with a strong technical background and extensive experience in the codes and standards process. He has a bachelor’s of science degree in mechanical engineering from California State Polytechnic University Pomona and has worked for the past five years as the manager for code development projects for the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials. During his five years with IAPMO, Aguilar managed projects pertaining to code development, was the staff liaison on the Uniform Mechanical Code and provided staff support on the UMC, as well as Uniform Plumbing Code and the Uniform Solar Energy and Hydronics Code.

“Hugo will assume many roles for ASA,” ASA Executive Director Mike Adelizzi said. “First, he will be the voice and the association’s spokesperson in the plumbing, heating, cooling, industrial mechanical, water and environmental technical concerns. In addition, he will create relationships with key member stakeholders of the association, allied groups as well as customer groups.

“Hugo also will provide association firms with education on the codes process and the changes that will impact their businesses in the future as well as to provide policy guidance and support for our government relations activities at the local, state and national levels. He also will act as the liaison between ASA, related trade associations and the various code committees and councils such as ICC, ASPE, PPI and IAPMO,” said Adelizzi.
