In response to the massive devastation on the East Coast caused by Superstorm Sandy,Weil-McLainandMarley Engineered Products(MEP) have donated $10,000 to the Red Cross Superstorm Sandy Relief Effort.  

At a presentation ceremony on December 6, 2012, LaPorte County Indiana Red Cross Executive DirectorBobbi Petruacknowledged a $10,000 donation on behalf of both companies from PresidentTom Blashill. Blashill was presented with a plaque of recognition from the Red Cross for the generous donation (pictured right).

In his remarks, Blashill said “On behalf of our employees we thank the Red Cross for all of the work that you are doing to support the people of the East Coast. Both Weil-McLain and MEP are doing all we can to support our friends in the Northeast. We are producing and shipping every boiler we can and have ramped up production to a 24/7 schedule in order to meet the demands of our friends and neighbors in the Northeast.”

Petru thanked both companies for their donation and commented that this donation “would make a major difference in the lives of individuals who have lost everything.” Petru went on to especially thank the employees of both companies for spending so much time away from their families to meet the product needs of the people of the East Coast. 

Petru also stated that since Superstorm Sandy hit, the Red Cross has:
  • Served over 8 million meals to people on the East Coast
  • Donated 6.1 million relief items (blankets, goods, etc.)
  • Provided 8,000 shelter nights to victims
