Henderson Companies Welcomes New Corporate Safety Director
Industry veteran Alan Sinks joins the national design and construction firm.

Henderson Companies, the parent company of Henderson Engineers and Henderson Building Solutions, welcomed Alan Sinks as corporate safety director. Based out of the firm’s Washington, D.C., office, Sinks will lead the continued advancement of the company‘s safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance, mitigate risk, and support efficient project execution and the well-being of employees, clients and partners.
Sinks began his career serving in the United States Marine Corps as a sergeant of marines, where he developed the discipline and leadership that continues to guide his work today. Following his military service, he served as a lead field support representative in Afghanistan, supporting the deployment and operation of counter-suicide bomber technology designed to protect U.S. and coalition forces. He later gained experience in business operations and government contracting before transitioning into construction safety, where he spent more than 11 years leading safety initiatives for Clark Construction Group, one of the largest building and infrastructure firms in the country. Throughout his career, Sinks has built a reputation for guiding teams through complex challenges, fostering strong relationships, and creating environments where people can do their best work safely.
“What stands out most about Alan is the way he approaches leadership,” said Kevin Lewis, CEO and president of Henderson Engineers and president of Henderson Companies. “He has demonstrated a genuine, longstanding commitment to serving others, a passion for helping others succeed, and a leadership style that brings out the best in those around him. We’re excited to welcome Alan to our team and look forward to the expertise and perspective he will bring to our organization.”
Sinks will work closely with Rhett Belser, safety director at Henderson Building Solutions, continuing to reinforce Henderson Companies’ commitment to one of its guiding principles: People First, Safety Always.
“Service has been a common thread throughout my career, and I’ve always believed that strong leadership begins with commitment to the well-being of others,” said Sinks. “Henderson’s people first culture and dedication to excellence resonated with me. I’m excited to join the team and help build upon the strong foundation of safety, trust, and collaboration that makes Henderson such a special place to work.”
