IAPMO is seeking applicants to serve as technical experts on Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC) and Uniform Mechanical Code (UMC) task groups.

The UPC Technical Committee is seeking special subject experts to join the following task groups:

1. Grease Interceptors: The scope of this task group is to review and update current provisions addressing grease interceptor sizing, installation, inspection, and maintenance.
2. Heat Pump Water Heaters: The scope of this task group is to research and develop recommendations addressing the installation of air-source heat pump water heaters. 
3. Construction Practices for Potable Water Systems: The scope of this task group is to research and develop recommendations addressing risk management practices for potable and non-potable water supply systems, as shown in Item No. 347 Public Comment 01 of the 2025 UPC Report on Comments (ROC).
4. Ecological-Sanitation Systems: The scope of this task group is to research and develop recommendations addressing ecological-sanitation systems, including composting toilets and urine‑diverting systems.

The UMC Technical Committee is seeking special subject experts to join the following task groups:

1. Enclosed Parking Garages and Gas Detectors: The scope of this task group is to review and update current provisions for gas detectors and sensing devices that automatically control or modulate exhaust ventilation systems in enclosed parking garages.
2. Concealed Building Spaces and Independent Construction: The scope of this task group is to review and update current provisions addressing concealed building spaces and independent construction as they relate to ducts and plenums.

Task group members will participate via conference call or web meeting, share their perspectives on the code, and help draft recommendations for action by the UPC and UMC Technical Committees. Applicants are not required to be members of either committee. Those interested in participating in the UPC or UMC task groups can apply here.
