Sylvester & Cockrum, LLC (“S&C”) announced the successful tuck-in acquisition of Mechanical Systems Technology, Inc. (“MST”). This partnership represents a step in S&C’s continued growth strategy and expands the company’s footprint into the Myrtle Beach and greater coastal South Carolina market. S&C is a partner company of NexCore, which is backed by Dallas-based private equity firm, Trinity Hunt Partners.

Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, MST is a commercial HVAC and refrigeration service provider with a strong focus on preventative maintenance, repair, and retrofit projects. The Company serves a diverse base of commercial and industrial customers, including restaurants, real estate firms, financial institutions, and municipal entities. MST has built long-standing customer relationships in the region, supported by more than 60 preventative maintenance agreements and a highly experienced team of field technicians.

According to the company, Scott Tripp, founder and president of MST, has developed a reputation for "quality workmanship and customer-first service" over more than two decades. As part of the transaction, Scott will remain with the business and continue to lead MST’s day-to-day operations under S&C ownership, ensuring continuity for employees and customers while helping drive the next phase of growth.

Louis Broyles, president of S&C, commented, “We are excited to welcome Scott and the entire MST team to the S&C family. MST has established an outstanding reputation in the Myrtle Beach market, and their focus on service and preventative maintenance aligns perfectly with our long-term strategy. This partnership allows us to enter a high-priority coastal geography while bringing additional resources, technology, and support to MST’s customers and employees.”

Scott Tripp added, “Partnering with Sylvester & Cockrum and NexCore positions MST for its next chapter of growth. We are proud of the business we have built and the relationships we’ve developed across the Myrtle Beach community. With S&C’s operational support, expanded purchasing power, and shared commitment to service excellence, we are confident that we can continue to grow while maintaining the culture and customer focus that define MST.”

Steve Knowles, CEO of NexCore, commented, “MST represents exactly the type of service-oriented, maintenance-driven business that fits our long-term platform strategy. Their strong recurring revenue base, attractive margins, and deep customer relationships make them an ideal partner for Sylvester & Cockrum.”

As part of the integration, MST will leverage S&C’s established infrastructure, including recruiting support, technical resources, IT systems and purchasing capabilities. Customers can expect a seamless transition, with continuity in day-to-day operations and the same technicians and service teams they rely on today.

This acquisition further demonstrates S&C’s commitment to partnering with best-in-class operators in attractive Southeastern markets. By expanding into coastal South Carolina, S&C strengthens its regional density and creates additional opportunities to provide maintenance-driven HVAC and refrigeration services to commercial clients.
