IAPMO announced that Dain Hansen, executive vice president of Government Relations, has been named one of The Hill’s Top 100 Lobbyists of 2025. This marks Hansen’s fourth consecutive year on this list, highlighting his leadership and IAPMO’s influence on public policy affecting codes, standards and the built environment.

Selected from thousands of nominations, The Hill’s Top Lobbyists have made measurable impacts on the course of policy and politics, whether for corporations, small businesses, local governments, nonprofits, unions or trade associations, according to the publication.

“Dain’s ongoing recognition underscores IAPMO’s steadfast commitment to advancing solutions that promote public health, sustainability, and global economic competitiveness,” said IAPMO CEO Dave Viola. “Under his guidance, our Government Relations team, and IAPMO as a whole continues to champion policies that strengthen communities, protect public health, and remove barriers to innovation.”

According to IAPMO, this year, they achieved a number of milestones:

  • Celebrated 10 years of WorldSkills Global Industry partnership — IAPMO and its charitable foundation, the International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation (IWSH), marked a decade of collaboration with WorldSkills.
  • Continued role in National High-Performance Buildings Week — IAPMO returned to Capitol Hill with key partners to advocate for resilient, sustainable building policy.
  • Launched IAPMO Innovation and Research Fund — New fund was announced to support research and innovation in plumbing, water, and mechanical systems — focusing on water quality, resiliency and sustainable solutions.
  • APEC — IAPMO’s role at a two-day APEC summit in South Korea on plumbing standardization, collaborating with the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, engaging stakeholders from 11 APEC economies — including many IAPMO clients — to support alignment on standards and strengthen regulatory cooperation.
  • March4Water — Continued expansion of March4Water with advocacy days in Washington, D.C., Missouri, Iowa, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Texas, with recognitions by many legislatures, including the Texas House, California Assembly and the governors of Massachusetts and New Jersey.
  • Advanced uniform codes — Worked across governments, from GSA, FEMA, and DOD to state and local governments and stakeholders to support inclusion of IAPMO’s codes in pre-disaster mitigation, government specifications.
  • Strengthened partnerships — IAPMO renewed and expanded cooperative agreements with key industry standards organizations, including ASPE (with ASSE International and ARCSA International) to promote sustainable, resilient plumbing systems and professional education.
  • PILC — Worked across industry leaders by helping align member priorities and moving shared initiatives forward. Hansen also builds connections across the plumbing industry to strengthen collaboration and impact.

“Being recognized as The Hill’s Top Lobbyist for the fourth time is an honor — and it’s not something I view as an individual achievement,” Hansen said. “It reflects a team effort: the Government Relations staff, who are consummate professionals; colleagues who lead industry-pioneering work; the partners who stay engaged; and the industry leaders who show up with real expertise and real solutions. Right now, the industry’s voice is more critical than ever, and I’m grateful to help make sure it’s heard — clearly, consistently, and with impact.”
