February is a great time to review the end-of-year 2023 activities of Standards Development Organizations, or SDOS. These organizations develop standards through voluntary consensus processes for product performance and safety, services, processes, systems, and personnel.
Energy, water systems, refrigerants and product standards finished out 2023 with a flurry of activity, so I've curated lists for you that piqued my interest in these areas:
- New, revised, or reaffirmed standards;
- Standards in development, under revision or pending reaffirmation; and
- Withdrawn standards.

What can you do?
It's best to keep track of standards activities through standards action newsletters from ANSI or ASHRAE or monthly newsletters, such as IAPMO's Codes and Standards Newsletter, which are excellent sources of information. While I recommend that you personally monitor standards activities, you may choose to request updates through your trade association.
