Nearly 1,000 members and vendors attended Nexstar Network’s annual Super Meeting, held from October 12-15 at the JW Marriott Marco Island Beach Resort in Marco Island, Florida, with some taking advantage of the event’s virtual attendance option. Typically a three-day event filled with programming and content designed specifically for those connected to Nexstar, the sold-out Super Meeting 2021 required an extra day to fit in even more networking events with members’ business coaches and peers. While still following local and building safety guidelines, Super Meeting offered a opportunity for participants to meet, learn and work together to tackle business challenges and gain new skills.

Of the successful meeting, Nexstar President and CEO Julian Scadden, said, “We are privileged to have the support of our engaged board of directors, which is built on a strong foundation of ethics laid by our founders. Super Meeting is an important part of our legacy; we believe in hosting events where members can share openly and freely to better themselves and their businesses. We had amazing vendor support for our trade show, as well as mainstage content our members can immediately apply to their businesses. We are honored to continue to host our annual Super Meeting.”

Attending member Texas Medley, president and CEO of Medley Heating & Air Conditioning, commented, “Being in the presence of so many great minds was almost intimidating. I walked away humbled, with a new appreciation for how much I still don’t know and an intensified desire to grow.”

The theme of the event was A Tale of Two Companies, with conversations and studies surrounding companies that thrived during 2020 and companies that struggled. Nexstar invited several keynote speakers to speak around this theme, making Super Meeting 2021 an educational and entertaining event. Keynote speaker Ryan Holiday, bestselling author of the book "The Obstacle is the Way," took the audience through the formulaic approaches to obstacles that icons of history, such as John D. Rockefeller, Amelia Earhart, and Steve Jobs have followed, helping members learn how to turn obstacles into opportunities. Bestselling author and behavioral scientist Stephen Martin, who co-authored Messengers: "Who We Listen To, Who We Don’t, and Why," presented the qualities, attributes, and actions one should take to craft well-thought-out messages that truly impact intended audiences.

Nexstar coaches presented sessions on marketing, recruiting and retention, new technologies and working with specific business challenges, such as running a family business. Additionally, Super Meeting participants enjoyed a sold-out Strategic Partner trade show, a fundraising cocktail hour and networking receptions. Virtual attendees moved smoothly through the events on a custom-built digital platform.
