Laurie and Daniel Crigler, generous supporters of the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors — National Association’s (PHCC) Educational Foundation, have been named to the organization’s Board of Governors. This distinguished group is composed of leading contractors, manufacturers, and other industry partners who are major donors to the Foundation; they are responsible for guiding the development of industry education and training programs for contractors and their employees.

Together, Laurie and Daniel Crigler own L&D Associates, a company serving the plumbing needs of commercial and residential customers throughout Central Virginia. The couple have been active in PHCC since they opened their business in 1983. Their passion for the trade and PHCC has been passed along to their son Danny, who works in the family business and is an active volunteer in PHCC as well.

Formerly a Kindergarten teacher, early on, Laurie Crigler applied her educational background to helping to develop a training curriculum for their local apprentice school program. Those efforts and a belief in the value of apprenticeship eventually lead the couple to the PHCC Educational Foundation and its many opportunities to assist with apprentice recruitment and development.

Laurie has spent countless hours behind the scenes at the SkillsUSA National Plumbing Championship and at the Foundation’s National Apprentice Contests that takes place during PHCC CONNECT each year. From helping with assembling the contest benches to distributing tools and materials, her hard work is a major factor in the success of these events.

Laurie and Daniel demonstrate how a couple can make a huge difference on the local, state and national level. Daniel has served as the PHCC of Virginia State president, and Laurie is wrapping up her term as president of the PHCC — National Association, a prestigious position held by only a few women so far in the organization’s 135-year history.

“Laurie and Daniel are great examples of people I am proud to have with us in the Foundation family,” shared Foundation Chair Craig Lewis. “They work so hard as volunteers to make our competitions a success and never hesitate when asked if they can lend a hand on a project. On top of the time and skills they have contributed, they have also been very generous with their financial donations to the Foundation. I’m so happy to have the honor of naming them as members of the Foundation Board of Governors.”

The PHCC Educational Foundation proudly welcomes Laurie and Daniel Crigler as they join other major supporters in promoting the Foundation’s mission of developing apprentice, journeyman, and business management training programs for the success of plumbing and HVACR contractors, their employees, and the future of the industry.
