Two industry veterans launch Success College for Contractors

Industry veterans Jim Abrams and Terry Nicholson announced the launch of a best practices group that will focus on helping smaller HVAC and plumbing contractors achieve success. They have named the group PRAXIS S-10 Success College for Contractors.

“A major change is occurring,” Nicholson said. “To meet the demands of consumers, we have created an innovative new HVAC business model for service contractors that we call ‘PriceFixer.’ It’s designed to generate highly profitable replacement sales with no salespeople, no selling technicians and no commissions. Consumers are absolutely going to love it.”

Members of the group, he said, will receive four major components:

Knowledge never taught at trade schools on how to manage a profitable contracting company;
The PriceFixer business model intended to help small HVAC contractors who need more highly profitable replacement sales, or plumbers who want to add HVAC to their service offerings;
Discounts and savings on items a contractor would purchase; and
An e-training solution designed to create world-class employees.

Also involved in the launch is Jimmy Hiller, owner of Nashville, Tenn.-based Hiller Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric. His company has 630 employees with 12 locations in three states.

Hiller said he owes much of his success to Abrams and Nicholson who previously worked together at Clockwork Home Services, the parent company of One Hour Heating and Air Conditioning, Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and Mister Sparky. They sold that company to Direct Energy for $183 million in 2010. In 1996, Abrams founded Service Experts and before that Contractors Success Group with business partner John Young.
