Peter and Tina McGrath, owners of Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Ottawa, Canada, were named Franchisee of the Year by Mr. Rooter during its 2012 Annual Reunion held in Grapevine, Texas, Sept. 23–26. Each year, Mr. Rooter awards a franchise owner from among its approximately 250 North American franchisees with this honor as a way of commemorating a career of unprecedented growth and success achieved through continuous training and a commitment to exceeding quality standards for both their customer and their company.

The recipient is one who has, over a number of years, consistently grown a model Mr. Rooter franchise. This standard is accomplished through establishing dominant market penetration, maintaining exemplary customer service standards, and actively participating in continuing education and training for their company.

“The McGrath’s are well-deserving of this award,” states Sue Halford, the Mr. Rooter franchise consultant who nominated the duo for the honor. “This is the highest honor given to a Mr. Rooter franchisee and their dedication to their customers, employees and trade is evident in all they do.”

The McGraths are also recipients of the Top Gun award, which represents the top 10% of Mr. Rooter owners across North America.

“The idea of ‘Top Gun’ was established by the Navy in the 1960s as a way to give training and credit to elite fighter pilots,” said Mary Kennedy Thompson, president of Mr. Rooter. “Taking a page from the Naval Top Gun program, each year we recognize our franchise leaders for their accomplishments and dedication to the trade. It takes dedication, hard work, expertise and commitment to reach the Top Gun goal and we are honored to have these winners on our team.”

Rookie of the Year

Jeremiah Wolff, owner of Mr. Rooter Plumbing of Salem, Ore., was named Rookie of the Year from Mr. Rooter during the 2012 Annual Reunion. Each year, Mr. Rooter awards a rookie franchise owner with this honor as a way of acknowledging the hard work and dedication it takes to launch and maintain a successful business.

The recipient of the Rookie of the Year award is a franchisee who has been in business less than 18 months, demonstrates outstanding performance in sales, is focused on building their organization and is committed to upholding the quality reputation of the Mr. Rooter brand and system.

“Jeremiah certainly deserves this coveted award,” said Mr. Rooter Franchise Consultant Dianna Worthington, who nominated him. “He hit the ground running, assimilating the proven Mr. Rooter system, and has shown great promise for a highly successful future.”

Wolff, who has 14 years of experience as a plumber, quickly hit numerous company benchmarks, while maintaining a positive consistency in customer service relations.

“From the start, Jeremiah has shown a can-do attitude,” said Thompson. “He has had to work hard to overcome obstacles that new businesses often face, and this has helped to solidify his commitment to excellence.”

Winning this award has been a humbling experience for Wolff. “I have worked diligently to ensure my business is a success, and this award helps to confirm I have been doing the right things at the right time,” he remarked. “I plan on continuing to offer unparalleled service to our customers and working hard to exceed their expectations.”
