In mid-July, Kohler Co. laid off 160 employees from its Kohler, Wis., operations. The layoffs were a direct result of a slower summer production schedule and the continued soft housing industry, and affected employees within the distribution center and cast-iron, engine and generator divisions. Kohler says it cannot predict when the affected employees may be recalled.
