The 2006-2007 president of the Chicagoland Better Heating-Cooling Council is John Stern, vice president of Bert C. Young & Sons Corp. Other elected officers are: Kevin L. Bailey, vice president of FLUID/AIR PRODUCTS, as first vice president; June Tucker, project manager at International Piping Systems, as second vice president; and Frank Bridgeford, inside sales at Porter Pipe & Supply Co., as secretary/treasurer.

Don Howley, sales solution representative at Affiliated Steam Equipment Co., remains on the board as past president.

Elected to two-year terms on the board were Michele James, sales engineer at Mechanical Inc.; Gerry Lintz, senior account manager at S G Supply Co.; Tom Olson, vice president of service at Thermodyne Mechanical Service Inc.; and William Reining, service operations manager at Independent Mechanical Industries Inc. Dave Gottfred, vice president of G&O Thermal Supply Co., was appointed to fill Bridgeford's term as a director.

Awards

The council named the recipients of its first Educator of the Year and Contractor of the Year awards.

The Contractor of the Year Award, presented to the member who demonstrates the highest degree of involvement in council programs, went to Climatemp Service Group.

Educator of the Year, given to the instructor whose program is judged to meet criteria of excellence during the previous school year, was Don Howley for his two-part Basic Steam School.

The council also presented its Jeffrey W. Berg Member Service Award to John O'Brien Jr. of GHC Mechanical Inc. The award is presented to any member who has exemplified long and distinguished service to the group.
