The British Antarctic Survey is looking for 15 skilled plumbers to spend 18 months on its bases and ships near the South Pole to stop pipes from freezing, according to Reuters. Temperatures in Antarctica can reach -50 degrees Celsius (-122 degrees F). The BAS is hoping the Antarctic scenery will compensate for the low salary - workers will be paid a maximum of 18,888 pounds (about $30,000) a year, instead of the 80,000 pounds (nearly $128,000) an in-demand plumber could earn back home in England.
