Carty was president and owner of Carty Heating Corp. in New York City, which his father founded in 1915. He was also a World War II veteran, an attorney, real estate investor, and an apartment house owner in the New York City area.
He was active in local politics and was a former city councilman of Yonkers. He served as past president of the MCA of New York and as president of MCAA in 1975.
A life-long bachelor, Carty is survived by his brother Joe Carty, cousins, nieces and nephews.
