The Mechanical Contractors Association of America has recently published two new model safety programs.

The "Model Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Control Plan" was created to help mechanical construction and service contractors meet their obligations to protect their workers from the hazards associated with bloodborne pathogens. It includes flow charts for determining a company's regulatory obligations for construction service work, along with a model exposure control plan.

The "Model Hazard Communication Program" will assist these employers in the development of a written hazard communication program for their companies. It includes a summary of the OSHA standard, a checklist for compliance, applicable definitions and a sample chemical information list form.

These publications are produced through MCAA's Safety Excellence Initiative. They are available to members for $18 and nonmembers for $36. They can be ordered through the MCAA's Web site at www.mcaa.org/store, or by calling MCAA's publications department at 301/869-5800.
