The Waldinger Corporation announced that it has acquired Project Design and Piping, Inc., a mechanical contractor in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Founded in 1986 by Kuno Mirwaldt and his son, Curtis, Project Design and Piping performs mechanical and plumbing contracting work for clients in the commercial, industrial and institutional markets throughout Northeast Indiana.

“We are excited to welcome the talented team from Project Design and Piping to Waldinger,” said Blaine Wilcoxson, Waldinger construction division president. “PDP has a great reputation throughout Northeast Indiana and their commitment to quality, delivering value to their clients, and taking care of their people fits very well with our company culture.”

All 42 Project Design and Piping team members will be retained as part of this acquisition and the business will continue operate under the Project Design and Piping name in Northeast Indiana. Curtis Mirwaldt will remain president of Project Design and Piping and will lead the day-to-day operations of the Fort Wayne branch.

“When my father and I founded this business almost 40 years ago, we never imagined it would grow to become a company of more than 40 hardworking, dedicated employees building some of the most significant projects in our community,” said Mirwaldt. “I’m grateful to have found a partner like Waldinger who is likeminded about taking care of our employees and our clients. I’m confident this partnership will set us up for success for the next 40 years and beyond.”

This is the first Indiana-based branch location for Waldinger and its 16th branch location overall. With this acquisition, Waldinger now has operations in seven states – Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.

“We see tremendous opportunity and potential in Indiana,” said Wilcoxson. “The state has experienced significant growth in the market sectors where we specialize, like data centers, manufacturing, hospitals, and other mission critical industries. We look forward to joining the community in Fort Wayne and contributing to the impressive momentum in the region.”
