Using an internal combustion natural gas engine, Lochinvar and EC Power’s Micro CHP (< 50 kW/hr) XRGI25 is designed to be an efficient, easy-to-install system intended for light commercial use. Using natural gas as fuel, a facility with a cogeneration system like the XRGI25 can produce both energy efficient heat for domestic hot water and electricity to reduce energy consumption, the company says. Exceeding European Union efficiency ratings, XRGI25 avoids the transmission and distribution (T&D) losses that occur when electricity travels over power lines. This product can achieve efficiencies approaching 90%, the company says.
