The American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA) is pleased to announce that Tiffany Moore of Moore Fire Protection in Issaquah, Wash., has been elected by her peers as recipient of AFSA's 2017 Young Professional of the Year award. The Young Professional of the Year award honors the contributions of promising fire protection specialists and serves to reaffirm the growing importance of fire sprinkler knowledge among the next generation of industry leaders.

"Tiffany's abilities to seek positive outcomes and tackle challenging issues that other's typically pass on have endeared herself to fellow contractor representatives around the country, across all age spectrums," AFSA President Frank Mortl III said. "Serving as an inspiration to NextGen advocates while offering a range of perspectives to more seasoned volunteers has placed Tiffany in a position to shape industry programming and impactful initiatives for years to come."

In other personnel news, AFSA named Robert G. Caputo as its 2017 Henry S. Parmelee award recipient. The association's highest honor, the Parmelee award is given to a select group of individuals who have tirelessly committed to strengthening the fire sprinkler industry.

"An extremely deserving individual of the AFSA’s most prestigious award, Bob Caputo embodies AFSA's goal to recognize an outstanding individual who has dedicated themselves to the professional advancements of the fire sprinkler industry,” Mortl said.

AFSA also announced the promotion of LaVerne Davis to director of financial and administrative affairs. In her new role, Davis is responsible for managing all AFSA financials, financial reporting, accounting processes and administrative services. In addition, Davis oversees the administrative department.

"The AFSA is proud to announce the promotion of LaVerne Davis as our director of financial and administrative affairs," Mortl said. "[She] brings a strong financial background to her new role while exuding a collaborative spirit that lends itself to serving as a tremendous office administrator."

Davis joined AFSA in early 2017 as manager of accounting. She holds both a bachelor and masters in business from The University of North Texas in Denton. Prior to joining AFSA, she served in accounting and financial management for The Coca-Cola Company World Headquarters in Atlanta; she also served as CFO of a Dallas-based nonprofit organization.
