The program will recognize more than 600 students nationwide that are on track to graduate within the next year.

The Home Depot is pledging more than $300,000 in scholarships to support the construction trades.

The Home Depot Trade Scholarship Program is open to students currently enrolled in building and construction trades programs at colleges, trade schools, universities and apprenticeship programs. The scholarship program will recognize more than 600 students nationwide that are on track to graduate within the next 12 months with a $500 scholarship to help offset the cost of their qualifying tuition and related expenses.

To qualify for a scholarship, students must be:

  • Enrolled in a building and construction trade school program at a college, university or accredited educational institution in the United States.

  • Studying to be a plumber, HVAC specialist, home builder, general contractor, carpenter, electrician or another building and construction trade professional.

  • Entering into the final year or term of their degree or career program.


The application deadline is June 20, 2009. Winners will be announced in September 2009.
