Danfoss Chairman, Former CEO Receives Award
Jorgen M. Clausen, Danfoss chairman of the board and former chief executive officer, received the Cleantech Pioneer Award at Cleantech Forum® XXII in Copenhagen, Denmark, April 29.
Clausen received the award for spearheading Danfoss’s strategy to minimize the consumption of raw materials and energy in the manufacturing process. He was also instrumental in Danfoss’ policy to invest in new clean technology companies.
“I’m honored to have received this award, which recognizes Danfoss’ leadership role in the area of environmental sustainability,” Clausen is quoted as saying. “Danfoss remains committed to minimizing the ecological and social impact of technology on local and global environments, and is grateful for an award that acknowledges our efforts.”
Clausen is the eldest son of Danfoss founder Mads Clausen, an engineer who established the company in 1933 in his parents’ attic in Nordborg, Denmark. In addition to his chairmanship, Clausen serves on the board of the Bitten and Mads Clausen Foundation, the charitable organization established by Mads Clausen.
The Cleantech Awards are the longest-running, most prestigious honors in the clean technology sector. Since 2003, the Cleantech Group, LLC, founder of the cleantech investment category, has been recognizing select individuals, companies and other organizations that have worked to further the clean technology sector.
