The 2007 Care to Ride event at the National Association of Oil Heat Service Managers’ annual convention generated $75,000 for the Oil Heat Cares charity. Topping last year’s total of $50,000, the event was held in Hershey, Pa., May 21. In addition to the two bicycle rides and walk, this year’s event included a motorcycle ride.

The cyclists rode to the headquarters of the Pennsylvania Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Store Association, where they were treated to an open house at the association’s training school. The motorcyclists took a scenic ride through the Pennsylvania countryside and ended their journey at Cabela’s Outdoor Outfitters. The walkers walked a local path for their five-kilometer jaunt.

Winners are determined by the amount of pledges raised. This year’s overall and bicycle division winner was Roger Marran of Energy Kinetics ($2,800). The top walker was Oil Heat Cares Chair Judy Garber ($2,100) and the top position in the motorcycle division belonged to the duo of Kevin Bowman and Tom Laverty ($1,000). The top team was the Long Island Rough Riders ($2,400).
