The Canadian Institute of Plumbing and Heating has called for uniform Canada-wide use of water-conserving plumbing products for both new construction and replacement, and has written to all provinces and territories urging them to mandate their use.

These products consist of 6-litre water closets, faucets and showerheads certified to the applicable CSA standards. CIPH says the industry has informed that it is ready to comply to meet a uniform Canada-wide program for faucets and showerheads by July 2006. For water closets, the industry will be in a position to comply eight months after provisions are adopted. For more information, contact Ralph Suppa at r.suppa@ciph.com.
