The Copper Development Association sponsored a December forum to discuss the market trends of copper usage. Linda Mayer, senior vice president of marketing and product development at Moen Inc., said that copper consumption should continue to gain from the U.S. housing market. While new housing starts and existing home sales are expected to fall somewhat over the next few years, the faucet market will remain strong as homeowners opt for upgrading and remodeling their homes. The repair and replacement market is three times larger than that for new home construction, she said.
