Philadelphia Prosecutors Convict Plumbing Inspectors
According to The Associated Press, Philadelphia prosecutors won extortion convictions against eight city plumbing inspectors for accepting $5-$20 tips from people whose work they supervised. Federal agents estimate the inspectors collected $169,000 since 1995. Seven of the eight defendants also were convicted of racketeering. The men face between two and three years in prison. No sentencing date had been set as of press time.
