Labor Board Allows Organizing Of Temps
The National Labor Relations Board has voted to allow temp workers to be included with permanent employees in collective bargaining units. In previous cases, the board had ruled that temp workers could only unionize with the consent of both the temp agency and the company where they were working. In 1999, temp workers accounted for 2.2 percent of the work force, double the level of figures reported in 1990.
