The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Commission is offering a proposal to improve the federal contractor selection process, as a number of private purchasers have adopted higher contractor qualifications.

The FAR Contractor Responsibility Determination Procedures provide examples to the current definition of "business integrity" and improves database coordination for legal and contract performance violations by federal bidders, according to the proposal.

Contractors in compliance with federal law and those with good performance records would be favorably considered for federal contracts.

The proposal clarifies existing FAR coverage, which already requires prospective contractors to show they have high performance standards of business.
